Why I Don't Offer In-Person Hypnosis Training
One of the most common questions I hear is: “Do you offer live, in-person training?”
The short answer is no—I don’t. I used to, but over time I made the intentional decision to focus exclusively on online training. I want to explain why, because it’s a choice rooted in what’s best for students.
The Hidden Costs of Live Training
The biggest factor that often determines whether or not somebody signs up for a training program is how much it costs. While live training can certainly have benefits, it comes with costs that often make it less accessible for many aspiring hypnotists.
Travel Expenses: Airfare, hotel rooms, and meals quickly add up—often costing almost as much as the tuition itself.
Time Away From Work: Most people have to take several days off their jobs to attend live training, which isn’t possible for everyone.
These barriers have kept many interested students from pursuing their hypnosis education. By moving to an online model, I’ve eliminated those obstacles and made training far more accessible.
Why Online Training Is Actually Better
For years, distance learning carried a stigma, and for good reason. Most of it was awful. But when online programs are thoughtfully designed by an experienced educator, they can deliver an even stronger learning experience than traditional in-person training.
Here’s why online training gives you an edge:
1. Flexibility That Fits Your Life
It’s really challenging to get a group of people to all agree on one period of time where they drop everything else they’re doing and attend a live, in-person training. Online training removes that challenge.
You don’t have to rearrange your entire schedule to learn. With online training, you can fit lessons around your job, family, and other commitments—on your own timeline.
2. Resources That Last Forever
In a live training, you might be given a course book or binder, and you only get to see a technique demonstrated live a few times, but when you go home you have to rely on your memory for the intricacies of those techniques you watched.
With well-developed online training, you gain access to:
Text-based guides
Walkthrough videos
Instructional demos
Real stage hypnosis show recordings
You can revisit these resources anytime—whether it’s once, a hundred times, or a thousand. Your learning library is always there for you.
3. Live Classroom Support
Online training doesn’t mean learning in isolation. My programs include regular live webinars via Zoom, where you can:
Ask questions directly
Get clarification on material you’ve studied
Receive personalized advice from your instructor
This combination of archived resources and live interaction gives you the best of both worlds.
Also, there’s a commonly held belief that being able to practice techniques in-person brings a level of learning that online programs can’t match, but that simply isn’t true.
I have my students video record themselves while performing their suggestibility tests and inductions, and I watch the videos and provide feedback on their technique like a sports coach going over game footage. By reviewing the video footage over and over, I can actually provide better feedback than an instructor who is watching them in-person.
The Modern Standard in Hypnosis Training
Gone are the days of “distance learning” meaning a box of DVDs in the mail. Today, online education is multi-modal, blending text, video, live sessions, and more to create a complete, dynamic learning environment.
As a former teacher, I design every program with one goal in mind: your success. I build tremendous value and depth into my courses so that you not only learn hypnosis, you master it, with ongoing support every step of the way.
Final Thought
I understand why some people miss the idea of live training. But for most students, online training removes the biggest obstacles while adding more flexibility, more resources, and more direct access to expert guidance.
That’s why I don’t offer live training—and why I believe my online programs are the best way forward for serious, aspiring hypnotists.
