In 2004, I started my hypnosis business full of energy, optimism, enthusiasm, but little experience in building a business and marketing myself. It took me years to get to the point where I worked regularly and didn’t have to worry about money.
I worked hard to build relationships, refine my craft, and keep the gigs coming. I got to the point where I was one of the top performers in the college market. But here’s the truth: I have less work now than when I started.
At first, I thought maybe it was just me. A rough patch after the pandemic and two years of cancer treatment and recovery. But just as I started getting gigs again, and feeling like I was getting back on track, the gigs dried up.
I started talking—really talking—with friends and colleagues in the entertainment hypnosis world. And without exception, every single one of them said the same thing:
Bookings are down. Way down.
